Wuchterl scores go-ahead goal as Lethbridge shades Edmonton 3-2 @NHLdotcom

EDMONTON - Mike Wuchterl scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period as the Lethbridge Hurricanes continued their red-hot play with a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday night in the Western Hockey League.

Jesse Craige and Dwight King added singles as the Hurricanes (22-9-1-1) won for the ninth time in 11 games.

Tomas Vincour and Jeff Lee replied for the Oil Kings (11-17-2-3), who have split six meetings with Lethbridge this season.

Wuchterl gave the Hurricanes the lead for good at 2:28 of the third. Carter Bancks walked out from behind the net and snapped a shot on goal. Oil Kings netminder Alex Archibald lost sight of it and Wuchterl banged home the rebound.

The assist extended Bancks' points streak to five games (1-4-5).

Despite being outshot 12-7 in the first, Edmonton opened the scoring. Braeden Adamyk sent Tomas Vincour in on a breakaway, and the Oil Kings forward faked backhand to forehand to beat Lethbridge netminder Juha Metsola.

Craige tied it for Lethbridge with a point shot that slipped between Archibald's glove and body with 3:52 remaining in the second.

King's empty netter made it 3-1 late, and Lee concluded the scoring with 6.2 seconds left in regulation.

Archibald turned aside 17 shots for Edmonton while Metsola stopped 28 for Lethbridge.
