NHL celebrates World Emoji Day

Teams take to Twitter, share funny faces, symbols in recognition

Sunday is World Emoji Day and all across the internet, NHL teams are having fun with those funny faces and symbols that accompany text messages and tweets.

The Montreal Canadiens posted a video, where players mimic the kidding face -- an emoji with eyes closed and a tongue sticking out. You can binge-watch the other emoji videos done by the Canadiens on the YouTube page dedicated to them.

The Winnipeg Jets kept it simple in their recognition of the day.

Alexander Wennberg of the Columbus Blue Jackets gave his impression of the wink-face emoji, and that set off an emoji/GIF battle between Columbus and Calgary.
