Describe your job in 2-3 sentences: I oversee and manage the day-to-day hockey administrative needs. I prepare player contracts, staff contracts and consulting agreements and deal with the activation of those items. I process player loans and recalls, injury documents and other items necessary for NHL Central Registry. I organize the NHL Entry Draft for our team and other special events. I work closely with our whole team which includes ownership, management, coaches, scouts, and players.
What's the best piece of career advice you've ever been given, or what advice do you like to give others?
One major piece of advice I was given was that "there are no problems -- only solutions." Not only is it very true, but it is also something that can bring people together when you use that phrase, makes people want to be a part of the solution.
What is a quality you admire most in others (personal or professional)?
I admire people who stay true to themselves. I admire people who can speak to everyone the same and treat everyone the same. I admire people who face adversity yet stay the course. I admire honestly and openness and consistency.
Describe a moment where you proudly thought to yourself, "I can't believe this is my job!"
I've had a few moments like that… the first was when the Terrace Group, which I was a part of, won the bid for the franchise. Next ones are opening games at the Civic Centre and The Palladium. Making the playoffs for the first time. Making it to the Stanley Cup Final with Daniel Alfredsson's OT goal. Hosting the All-Star Game, and so many more.
