Winterhawks down Thunderbirds 5-3 in WHL action

PORTLAND, Ore. - Spencer Bennett scored twice to help the Portland Winterhawks down the Seattle Thunderbirds 5-3 in Western Hockey League play on Saturday night.

Portland (18-12) also got goals from Brad Ross, Nino Niederreiter, and Riley Boychuk. Portland was 1-for-5 with the man advantage. Nielsen also added an assist.

Seattle (10-16-4) got goals from Lindsay Nielsen, Prab Rai, and Charles Wells.

Thunderbirds' goalie Calvin Pickard made 41 saves, while Ian Curtis stopped 24 shots to get the win.
