TAMPA-- Brayden Point scored 36 seconds into overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 win against the Winnipeg Jets at Amalie Arena on Saturday.

Point took control of the puck at the red line and eluded Jets center Bryan Little with an inside-out move that left him with a clear path to the goal, and he beat Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck with a backhand. It was his third overtime goal of the season.
"It's opportunity, it's lucky breaks," Point said. "Tonight, I got one. Little made a good play on me to poke check the puck, but it hit my shin pad and kind of bounced for a break. It's luck and it's opportunity. I'm just happy to finish it."

Yanni Gourde, Mikhail Sergachev and Nikita Kucherov scored for the Lightning (21-6-2), who won all four games on their homestand. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 17 saves.
Andrew Copp, Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers scored for the Jets (17-8-5), who lost three consecutive games for the first time this season. Hellebuyck made 24 saves.
The Jets are 0-5 in overtime this season.
"It was a great game, both teams played really hard," Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey said. "Obviously we want to come away with two points, but it was a big effort from us at the end of a road trip. I thought we played well enough to win and got some great goaltending."
Ehlers gave the Jets a 3-2 lead with a goal from the left circle at 7:02 of the third period. The wrist shot bounced off Vasilevskiy's pad.

Kucherov tied it 3-3 at 8:51 with a shot from the high slot. It was his 20th goal of the season.
"We would have definitely liked the two [points] and we're going to have to reflect on this one," Hellebuyck said. "We can't be giving these up. It's early, and we're still going to come back from this, but it's frustrating."
Winnipeg took a 1-0 lead 1:23 into the first period on Copp's fourth goal of the season. Adam Lowry passed to Copp open in the slot and he scored with a shot to the short post.

The Lightning answered with a power-play goal by Gourde at 18:57 on a putback to make it 1-1.
"I think we showed the depth of our team tonight," Gourde said. "Every line can score and every line was effective during this homestand. If we keep going that way, we're going to win more games than we lose."
Sergachev gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead at 16:39 of the second period with a spin-around wrist shot from the high slot.
"I was trying to go down and get the puck from [Tyler Johnson] and I saw no play there, so I turned and turned back and ... lucky goal," Sergachev said. "I probably tried to do that in juniors before, but not here."
Connor made it 2-2 at 18:02 of the second period with a tip-in off a shot by Morrissey.
"I don't think we were as sharp and quick as we're capable of being," Jets coach Paul Maurice said. "But a pretty good fight tonight. I wanted us to get better as the game went on and I thought we did that."

They said it

"This game won't be one that you'll hang on to in terms of a rallying cry. We didn't get enough pucks to the net at times. We've got a better game that we can play, but there were a lot of good moments in the game as well." -- Jets coach Paul Maurice
"Brayden Point is one of those guys who goes out there and feels if he doesn't play well he's going to get sent down, that's kind of that attitude that he has. I got to coach him not only last year, but I had him at the World Championships, and players have to accept different roles and where to play and he just says, 'Tell me where to play and I'll give you my best.'" -- Lightning coach Jon Cooper
