McCann's late goal leads Kraken to win over Jets

SEATTLE --Jared McCann scored the go-ahead goal with 4:32 remaining, and the Seattle Kraken defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 at Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday.

McCann scored short side over the left shoulder of David Rittich from the right face-off dot after the Jets failed to clear the puck along the boards.
"Just a bit more grit. I feel like we kind of lost that the last couple of games here," McCann said. "We haven't played with that kind of jam, that kind of relentlessness. And you know, I feel like we had that tonight. It was good. It led the way for us, like it usually does."

WPG@SEA: McCann scores 14th goal of season in 3rd

Jordan Eberle and Ryan Donato also scored for the Kraken (17-10-3), who had lost two straight and five of six. Philipp Grubauer made 15 saves.
"It's the type of game where you just have to stay with it. Stay patient," Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said "We got a little impatient a couple of times in the second period and gave up gave up a couple of odd-man rushes, but there wasn't a lot of that. In the third there was not a mistake. … We stayed with it and scored a couple of determined goals, and that made the difference for us."
Pierre-Luc Dubois had a goal and an assist, and Josh Morrissey had two assists for the Jets (20-10-1), who were coming off a 5-1 win at the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Rittich made 31 saves.
"We were half a step behind physically, and then mentally we complicated the game a little bit," Winnipeg coach Rick Bowness said. "When we do that, you're on your heels a little too much. ... We got it right down to the last five minutes. You hope at that point you can find a way to hang on, and we didn't."

WPG@SEA: Scheifele tips in puck to give Jets lead

Mark Scheifele gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead at 8:26 of the first period when he redirected in a slap pass from Morrissey during a 5-on-3 power play.
"We've got to be better tonight. We've got to find a way to find some energy and be better," Scheifele said. "We didn't do that tonight, so we've got to be better. We've got to regroup."
Eberle it 1-1 at 8:43 of the second period. He received a diagonal cross-ice pass from Adam Larsson, spun and roofed a backhand over Rittich's right shoulder from the left circle.
"That's Jordan," McCann said. "That's what I grew up watching right? And it makes him sound a little older than he is (32), but he's been a leader of our team from the beginning. And he's a guy we rely on a lot, and it's good to see."

WPG@SEA: Eberle gets Kraken on board in 2nd period

Dubois put the Jets back in front 2-1 at 12:41, scoring a power-play goal off a rebound in the crease.
Donato scored 16 seconds into the third period to tie it 2-2 when he deflected in a shot from Yanni Gourde.
"This is what we are, right?" Hakstol said. "As a team, I mean, we have to have everybody contributing, and it's not about the number of minutes or who's scoring the goals or anything like that. But you know, when you're out there, you got to do your part for the group, and for us, it's been for the most part a different line or a different guy each night on the offensive side. But you know, defensively tonight, we were playing a team on a back-to-back, and we didn't give much up."
NOTES: Morrissey has 11 assists during a nine-game point streak. … Dubois has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his past five games. … Donato has scored in three straight games.
