Wings sign Valtteri Filppula's older brother @NHLdotcom
The Detroit Red Wings have agreed to terms with forward Ilari Filppula, older brother of current Wings center Valtteri Filppula, on a one-year contract. No financial terms were disclosed.
Ilari Filppula, 28, played the past two seasons for TPS Turku of the Finnish Elite League.  In 2009-10, the native of Vantaa, Finland, led TPS Turku and finished ninth in league scoring with 49 points (12 goals, 37 assists) in 58 games. He also won the Jari Kurri Award as the league’s playoff MVP, scoring 2 goals and adding 12 assists in 15 games while helping TPS Turku capture its first league title since 2000-01. Past winners of the Jari Kurri Award include current NHL players Saku Koivu (1995), Olli Jokinen (1998), Miikka Kiprusoff (1999), Kari Lehtonen (2002) and Niklas Backstrom (2004 and 2005).

Valtteri Filppula, 26, had 11 goals and 35 points in 55 games for the Wings this past season. He was a member of Detroit's Stanley Cup-winning team in 2008.
