The final day of the regular season will determine whether the Chicago Blackhawks
will have a chance to defend their Stanley Cup championship.
In a Sunday matinee on NBC in the U.S. and TSN in Canada, the Blackhawks, who are two points ahead of the Dallas Stars
for eighth place in the Western Conference, will face the Detroit Red Wings
at the United Center. Game time is slated for 12:30 p.m. ET, which means the puck will drop before noon in the Windy City.
The Hawks, who won 4-2 at Detroit on Friday, need one point to assure themselves of a chance to defend their title.
Eight other teams will conclude their regular season on Sunday. Three games have 3 p.m. (ET) start times -- the Boston Bruins
face the New Jersey Devils
at Prudential Center; the Atlanta Thrashers
host the Pittsburgh Penguins
at Philips Arena and the Edmonton Oilers
battle the Colorado Avalanche
at the Pepsi Center.
In the final game of the regular season, the Dallas Stars
face the Minnesota Wild
at the Xcel Energy Center at 6 p.m. ET, a game that can be seen on the NHL Network in both Canada and the United States. The Stars, who have won four straight, need the Blackhawks to lose in regulation to have any hope of making the playoffs.
