Windsor's Watson scores first OHL hat trick in wild 8-5 win over 67's @NHLdotcom

WINDSOR, Ont. - Austin Watson scored his first career Ontario Hockey League hat trick and Troy Passingham made 19 saves as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the Ottawa 67's 8-5 on Thursday.

After spotting the 67's a 2-0 lead on first period goals by Anthony Nigro and Dalton, the Spitfires - the top-ranked team in the OHL -exploded for six unanswered second-period goals while outshooting their visitors 18-3.

Watson and Scott Timmins both scored twice, with singles going to Austen Brassard and Greg Nemisz.

The 67's scored three late goals in the third period on markers by Ryan Martindale, Thomas Nesbitt and Jon Carnevale to make things interesting after Watson seemingly put the game out of reach for the Spitfires with his third goal of the game.

Adam Henrique scored his ninth goal of the season into an empty net.

Chris Perugini made 33 saves in a losing effort for the 67's.
