Windsor's hot start continues with a win over Tavares and the Generals @NHLdotcom

OSHAWA - Defenceman Ryan Ellis scored once and set up two, leading the Windsor Spitfires to a 4-1 win over the Oshawa Generals.

Mark Cundari, Andrew Yogan and Austin Watson also scored for the Spitfires, who have now won six straight games to open the season. John Tavares scored the lone Oshawa goal, his league-leading sixth of the season, on a second-period power play. That marker cut the Windsor lead to 2-1, but Watson scored less than six minutes later and Ellis added the final goal on a power play in the third period.

Taylor Hall had an assist for the Spitfires, and now shares the league lead in points with Tavares at 11.

The Spitfires (6-0-0-0) outshot the Generals (2-3-0-0) 45-17.

Andrew Engelage stopped 16 shots for the win, while Daryl Borden made 41 saves in a losing effort.
