BRAMPTON, Ont. - William Wallen's power-play goal in the second period stood was the difference as the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors edged the Brampton Battalion 2-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Monday.
After a scoreless opening period, Mississauga centre Rob Flick backhanded a shot past Battalion goaltender Patrick Killeen to make it 1-0.
After Wallen doubled his team's lead at 13:46 in the second, Kyle Pereira brought Brampton to within a goal on the power play at 18:04 mark.
Matt McLeod appeared to put the Battalion in front in the first period but the goal was called back after a video review determined that he kicked the puck into the net.
JP Anderson made 25 saves for the Majors (6-3-0), while Killeen turned aside 23 shots.
The Battalion (3-4-1) was once again without Cody Hodgson, who remains out of action due to a back injury. He was assigned to the Battalion by the Vancouver Canucks two weeks ago.
