Wilkes-Barre/Scranton scores four shootout goals to beat Toronto 3-2

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Kristofer Letang had the deciding shootout goal as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins upended the Toronto Marlies 3-2 Friday night in the American Hockey League.

Letang had the third shootout goal for the Penguins, and Tim Brent beat Marlies netminder Justin Pogge to clinch the victory for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Jeff Taffe and Kurtis McLean also scored in the shootout for the Penguins (4-5-0-0), who ended a two-game losing streak.

McLean and Connor James scored in regulation for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while Ty Conklin stopped 33 shots and made an additional three saves in the shootout.

Jay Harrison and John Mitchell replied in regulation for the Marlies (7-0-0-2). Mitchell's goal 7:48 into the third period forced extra time, and extended Toronto's season-opening points streak to a league-high nine games.

Pogge had 27 saves in regulation for the Marlies.
