Wild re-sign Schultz to 6-year contract extension

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -Minnesota Wild defenseman Nick Schultz signed a $21 million, six-year contract extension.

The 25-year-old player had been scheduled for unrestricted free agency July 1. He's earning $1.85 million this season, with the new deal paying him an average of $3.5 million.

Schultz, who has played the third-most games in Wild history, has one goal and 10 assists this season. He was selected 33rd overall in the 2000 draft by Minnesota.
