Wild forward Mikko Koivu taken to hospital

COLUMBUS -- Minnesota Wild forward Mikko Koivu was taken to the hospital after leaving the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday.

Koivu was hit by Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard and went back-first into the end boards 1:14 into the game. He played 1:35 in the first period, with his last shift ending with 15:54 to go.

The Wild said he would fly home with the team.

Koivu, the Wild captain, has 10 goals and 22 assists in 39 games this season.

The Wild won, 4-2.
