Wild defenseman Brodin leaves game with injury

by Dan Rosen /

NEW YORK -- Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin did not return for the start of the second period Monday at Madison Square Garden after crashing awkwardly into the end boards following a hit from New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider late in the first period.

Kreider received a five-minute boarding major and a game misconduct at 19:44. He hit Brodin in the back as the Wild defenseman was trying to slow down.

Brodin was down for a while behind the Wild's net and needed help to the dressing room. He played nine shifts totaling 7:28 in the first period.

More to come.
