But when the legendary defenseman, now an assistant coach with the Minnesota Wild, visited the Prudential Center on Saturday night, he couldn't hide his emotions as the Devils honored him with a tribute video highlighting his 13 seasons and three Stanley Cups with New Jersey.
The sight of Stevens, a super-skilled and super-physical player during his career, on the edge of tears must have been a strange one for Devils fans. But then again the site of him with a different organization must've been odd as well.

Stevens, the longest tenured captain in Devils history (1992-2004) had his number retired in 2006 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007. Stevens was hired by the Wild in June.
