WHL Roundup: Tri-City beats Everett 3-2 to snap 3-game slide @NHLdotcom

The Tri-City Americans can depend on a visit from their state rivals to break out of a slump.

Malte Stromwall scored the game-winning goal in the third period, as the Americans beat the Everett Silvertips 3-2 to snap a three-game slide Friday night in Western Hockey League action.

"It wasn't a pretty game, but we got the job done," said Justin Feser, whose two assists tied Patrick Holland and Ian McDonald for 12th on the Americans' all-time list with 145 career assists.

"We did what we had to do in the third to keep them off the board."

The Americans (10-6-2) have beaten Everett (6-10-2) five consecutive times, including all four meetings this season.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Brandon 3, Moose Jaw 2; Saskatoon 3, Kootenay 2 (OT); Lethbridge 5, Medicine Hat 2; Prince Albert 3, Edmonton 2; Calgary 4, Regina 1; Swift Current 4, Seattle 3; Kamloops 2, Prince George 1 (SO); Portland 6, Victoria 2; and Red Deer 3, Spokane 1.

At Kennewick, Wash., Brian Williams and Beau McCue also scored for Tri-City. Eric Comrie finished with 19 saves as he picked up his 10th win of the season.

Stathis Soumelidis and Kohl Bauml scored for the Silvertips, who also got two assists from Ryan Murray and 25 saves from Austin Lotz.

Wheat Kings 3, Warriors 2

At Brandon, Man., Nick Buonassisi scored late to help the Wheat Kings (8-6-3) slip past Moose Jaw (7-7-3).


Blades 3, Ice 2 (OT)

At Cranbrook, B.C., Shane McColgan scored in overtime as Saskatoon (7-9-0) edged Kootenay (4-8-1).


Hurricanes 5, Tigers 2

At Lethbridge, Alta., Jay Merkley scored twice to lift the Hurricanes (9-7-2) past Medicine Hat (9-9-1).


Raiders 3, Oil Kings 2

At Prince Albert, Sask., the Raiders (11-4-2) scored three unanswered goals to edge Edmonton (9-4-3).


Hitmen 4, Pats 1

At Regina, Brooks Macek scored twice as Calgary (9-4-3) downed the Pats (6-11-1).


Broncos 4, Thunderbirds 3

At Swift Current, Sask., Graham Black's two goals helped the Broncos (7-7-5) blow past Seattle (7-7-1).


Blazers 2, Cougars 1 (SO)

At Kamloops, B.C., Brendan Ranford and Cole Ully scored in the shootout to help the Blazers (17-1-1) beat Prince George (7-8-1).


Winterhawks 6, Royals 2

At Portland, Ore., Nicolas Petan's two goals lead the Winterhawks (11-3-1) past Victoria (9-7-0).


Rebels 3, Chiefs 1

At Spokane, Wash., the Rebels (9-8-2) had three unanswered goals to cruise past the Chiefs (11-6-0).
