The Kelowna Rockets put a few more points between them and a division rival.

Zach Franko's empty-net goal ended a late Spokane Chiefs rally to help the Rockets win 5-3 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League play.

The victory moved Kelowna, which is second in the Western Conference, four points clear of rival Kamloops after the Blazers fell 3-2 to Victoria.

Ryan Olsen, Colton Sissons, Rourke Chartier and Tyler Goulbourne also scored for Kelowna (32-10-3), which won its 18th straight game at home.

Alessio Bertaggia scored twice, once shorthanded and once on the power play, and Todd Fiddler also scored for the Chiefs (28-15-1).

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Kootenay 3, Prince Albert 2 (OT); and Tri-City 9, Vancouver 5.

At Kelowna, B.C., the Rockets led 4-0 after two periods.

Fiddler sparked the late charge by Spokane with a goal at 10:16, before Bertaggia scored shorthanded at 16:36 and added his second just over a minute later.

The comeback ended when Franko put the puck into an empty net at 18:58.

Jordon Cooke stopped 17 shots in net for the Rockets.

Spokane goaltender Eric Williams stopped 15-of-19 shots for the Chiefs, with Garrett Hughson taking over after Kelowna made it 4-0. Hughson was perfect in relief, stopping all 13 shots he faced.

At Prince Albert, Sask., Sam Reinhart scored the game tying goal and scored again in overtime as Kootenay (19-25-1) rallied past the Raiders (26-15-4).
