WHL Roundup: Ivan Nikolishin scores shootout winner as Rebels edge Hitmen

RED DEER, Alta. - Ivan Nikolishin had the only goal in the shootout as the Red Deer Rebels edged the Calgary Hitmen 5-4 on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Grayson Pawlenchuk forced extra time after scoring a power-play goal for Red Deer (5-2-0) at 19:23 of the third period. Lane Pederson, Evan Polei and Haydn Fleury rounded out the attack.

Jake Bean struck twice for the Hitmen (5-1-1), including once on the power play. Taylor Sanheim, Jordy Stallard and Bean each had a goal in the third period as Calgary stormed back to take a brief lead.

Rylan Toth made 28 saves to pick up his fifth win of the season in net for the Rebels. Kyle Dumba turned aside 27 shots for the Hitmen.

Both teams went 1 for 4 on the power play.
