WHL Roundup: Hill stops 45 shots, Winterhawks blank red-hot Wheat Kings 5-0 @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - Adin Hill stopped 45 shots and Dominic Turgeon had two goals and an assist as the Portland Winterhawks toppled the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 5-0 on Sunday in Western Hockey League action.

Skyler McKenzie, Rodrigo Abols and Alex Schoenborn rounded out the offence for the Winterhawks (5-6-0), who have won three games in a row. Paul Bittner chipped in with two assists.

Jordan Papirny took the loss for the Wheat Kings (8-2-2), who failed to earn at least one point for the first time in nine games.

Papirny allowed five goals on 24 shots before getting replaced by Logan Thompson, who stopped the only two shots he faced in 7:45 of relief.

Portland went 2 for 2 on the power play while Brandon failed to score on six chances with the man advantage.



REGINA ? Jesse Lees scored 2:42 into the extra period as Prince Albert edged the Pats for its sixth straight win.

Simon Stransky also found the back of the net for the Raiders (10-2-1) as Ian Scott kicked out 38 shots for the victory.

Connor Hobbs scored for Regina (6-5-1), which got a 27-save outing from Daniel Wapple.



VANCOUVER ??? Ty Edmonds made 40 saves and Brogan O'Brien's second-period goal stood up as the winner as Prince George handed the Giants their third loss in a row.

Jesse Gabrielle and Aaron Boyd also scored for the Cougars (6-5-0).

Ty Ronning kept Vancouver (4-6-2) from being shut out while Payton Lee stopped 30-of-33 shots in defeat.
