WHL Roundup: Collin Shirley scores twice, adds assist as Blazers down Blades

SASKATOON - Collin Shirley scored twice and added an assist as the Kamloops Blazers downed the Saskatoon Blades 6-2 on Friday night in Western Hockey League action.

Gage Quinney, Nick Chyzowski, Garrett Pilon and Ondrej Vala also had goals for the Blazers (13-10-4). Connor Ingram made 33 saves for the win.

Cameron Hebig opened the scoring with his 13th of the season for Saskatoon (10-16-3), which dropped its fifth straight. Mason McCarty answered six-straight Kamloops goals by scoring late in the third.

Brock Hamm turned away 20-of-25 shots in 40 minutes before giving way to Dorrin Luding, who made 10 saves in relief for the Blades.

The Blazers scored once on five power-play opportunities while Saskatoon was 0 for 3.

MOOSE JAW, Sask. ? Josh Brook scored the eventual winner as the Warriors held off Calgary.

Dryden Hunt, Brayden Watts, Ryan Bowen and Brook gave Moose Jaw (16-10-5) a 4-0 lead to start the game.

Loch Morrison, Beck Malenstyn and Layne Bensmiller responded for the Hitmen (20-12-2), who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

REGINA ??? Dillon Dube and Cole Linaker had a goal and an assist each as Kelowna edged the Pats.

Justin Kirkland and Cal Foote also chipped in for the Rockets (23-6-1), who won their fourth in a row.

Adam Berg, Taylor Cooper and Connor Hobbs provided the offence for Regina (14-13-3).

BRANDON, Man. ??? Giorgio Estephan struck twice as Lethbridge toppled the Wheat Kings.

Tyler Wong and Brayden Burke each added a goal and two assists for the Hurricanes (20-10-0). Egor Babenko rounded out the attack.

Tyler Coulter, Braylon Shmyr and Connor Gutenberg scored for Brandon (18-10-3).

RED DEER, Alta. ??? Nelson Nogier scored the winner at 19:09 of the third period as the Rebels slipped past Medicine Hat.

Ivan Nikolishin opened the scoring with his 18th of the season for Red Deer (21-10-0).

Max Gerlach tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal for the Tigers (8-18-3).

PORTLAND, Ore. ??? Rihards Bukarts had a pair of goals as the Winterhawks edged Prince George.

Dominic Turgeon, Keoni Texeira and Tanner Nagel supplied the rest of the offence for Portland (15-14-0). Alex Schoenborn tacked on three assists.

Chase Witala scored twice and added an assist for the Cougars (18-10-2), who entered the game with an 8-0-1 record in their last nine outings. Kody McDonald and Jesse Gabrielle had the others.

KENNEWICK, Wash. ??? Graham Millar scored the third of three unanswered goals for Everett en route to a come-from-behind win over Tri-City.

Dawson Leedhal and Remi Laurencelle also scored for the Silvertips (16-10-2), who trailed 2-0 midway through the first period.

Vladislav Lukin and Juuso Valimaki built the lead for the Americans (11-18-1) on the power play.
