WHL Roundup: Carter Hansen's hat trick leads Regina past Red Deer @NHLdotcom

REGINA - Carter Hansen scored a hat trick as the Regina Pats hammered the Red Deer Rebels 6-2 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.

Chandler Stephenson added a pair of goals and Connor Gay chipped in with a single for Regina (21-17-5), which stayed in control with the first six goals of the game.

Conner Bleackley and Grayson Pawlenchuk broke up the shutout with third-period goals for Red Deer (20-20-2).

Pats goaltender Dawson MacAuley stopped 20 shots, while Patrik Bartosak was pulled from the Rebels' net after giving up four goals on 14 shots. Taz Burman made 22 saves in relief.



SASKATOON ? Jake Virtanen scored twice in the third period to lift Calgary to its seventh straight win.

Brady Brassart, Pavel Padakin, Adam Tambellini and Zane Jones also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading Hitmen (29-8-5).

Nikita Scherbak scored twice for the Blades (12-29-4), with Ryan Graham and Brett Stovin adding one each.

Calgary's Mack Shields finished with 33 saves, while Saskatoon's Troy Trombley had a 46-save performance ruined.



EDMONTON ??? Tristan Jarry made 43 saves as the Oil Kings held off league-leading Kelowna.

Brandon Baddock scored twice and Luke Bertolucci and Edgars Kulda added singles for Edmonton (27-12-1).

Carter Rigby and Myles Bell replied for the Rockets (33-5-2).

Kelowna goaltender Jordon Cooke stopped 32 shots.



LETHBRIDGE, Alta. ??? Brady Ramsay's goal with less than two minutes left lifted the league-worst Hurricanes to a win against Kootenay.

Macoy Erkamps, Giorgio Estephan, Jamal Watson and Riley Sheen added a goal each for Lethbridge (9-30-5).

Luke Philp, Tim Bozon, Rinat Valiev and Levi Cable scored for the Ice (21-20-3).

Lethbridge's Corbin Boes stopped 22 shots. In Kootenay's goal, Mackenzie Skapski was pulled after giving up three goals on 24 shots. Wyatt Hoflin took over and made 13 saves.



PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. ??? Sam McKechnie scored the only goal of the shootout as Seattle edged the Cougars.

Alexander Delnov had the lone goal in regulation for the Thunderbirds (24-14-5).

Klarc Wilson tied the game at 12:10 in the third for Prince George (16-22-6).

Seattle's Danny Mumaugh made 28 saves, five better than Ty Edmonds had in the Cougar's net.



EVERETT, Wash. ??? Adin Hill made 28 saves as Portland ended a four-game losing streak.

Adam De Champlain, Keegan Iverson, Brendan Leipsic and Derrick Pouliot scored as the Winterhawks (26-12-4) went ahead with a three-goal third period.

Carson Stadnyk replied for the Silvertips (23-13-6), who went scoreless on the power play despite six opportunities.

Austin Lotz made 25 saves in Everett's net.
