WHL Roundup: Adam Helewka scores twice as Chiefs down first-place Silvertips

EVERETT, Wash. - Adam Helewka had two goals and two assists as the Spokane Chiefs knocked off the U.S. division-leading Everett Silvertips 6-4 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Markson Bechtold, Calder Brooks, Jackson Playfair and Colton Bobyk all chipped in for the Chiefs (8-5-3), who scored four times in the third period.

Patrick Bajkov, Brayden Low, Logan Aasman and Ivan Nikolishin replied for Everett (12-2-3), which had a six-game winning streak snapped.

Tyson Verhelst made 21 saves for the win. Austin Lotz kicked out 25 shots for the Silvertips.

Spokane went 2 for 6 on the man advantage while Everett was scoreless on seven chances.

SASKATOON ? Ryan Graham struck twice and added an assist as the Blades downed Seattle.

Sam McKechnie and Josh Uhrich also scored for the Thunderbirds (8-7-3).

Justin Hickman and Ryan Gropp responded for Saskatoon (6-13-0).

BRANDON, Man. ??? Rihards Bukarts scored on the power play in regulation and in the shootout as the Wheat Kings edged Calgary.

John Quenneville had the deciding goal in the shootout for Brandon (16-3-1).

Travis Sanheim had a power-play goal for the Hitmen (10-8-2).

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. ??? Tristan Jarry made 32 saves as Edmonton blanked the Hurricanes.

Ashton Sautner, Tyler Robertson, Aaron Irving and Brett Pollock all scored for the Oil Kings (10-8-2) who snapped a six game losing streak.

Zac Robidoux turned aside 30 shots in the loss for Lethbridge (5-10-4).

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. ??? Cole Sanford struck twice as the Tigers won their third straight over Moose Jaw.

Steven Owre and Blake Penner also scored for Medicine Hat (14-3-1), which scored three straight to secure the win.

Tanner Eberle and Torrin White had goals for the Warriors (7-10-2).

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. ??? Regan Nagy and Brandon Magee both had a goal and an assist as Victoria snapped the Cougars' four-game winning streak.

Ralph Jarratt, Jack Walker, Austin Carroll and Taylor Crunk supplied the remainder of the Royals (10-9-2) offence.

David Soltes and Tate Olson both scored for Prince George (11-9-0).

Payton Lee turned aside 18 shots for the Giants (7-11-0).

PORTLAND, Ore. ??? Winnipeg Jets prospect Nicolas Petan scored 56 seconds into overtime as the Winterhawks edged Kamloops.

Ethan Price, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Layne Viveiros all found the back of the net for Portland (8-11-2).

Collin Shirley, Quinn Benjafield and Deven Sideroff chipped in for the Blazers (9-9-3).

KENNEWICK, Wash. ????????? Beau McCue scored his eighth goal of the season at 2:34 of overtime as Tri-City edged Red Deer.

Maxwell James and Taylor Vickerman rounded out the Americans' (12-8-0) attack, who won their fourth straight.

Scott Feser and Tyler Sandhu responded for the Rebels (9-8-3).
