WHL Roundup: A look at Wednesday's games @NHLdotcom

Kristians Pelss scored at 3:55 of overtime as the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Kootenay Ice 5-4 in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday night.

Edmonton, which has clinched first place in the East Conference, did not dress veterans Klarc Wilson and Jordan Peddle, while Dylan Wruck, who has seven assists in five games against the Ice this season, is day-to-day with an upper body injury.

The Ice are tied with Saskatoon for sixth place in the Conference, one point behind Regina and two ahead of Brandon.

All four teams have two games left in the regular season.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Moose Jaw 3 Brandon 2 (SO); Kethbridge 5 Calgary 3; Regina 4 Prince Albert 1; Victoria 4 Portland 3; Kelowna 4 Everett 2; and Spokane 6 Kamloops 4.

At Cranbrook, B.C., the Oil Kings (48-15-7) opened the scoring in the first on a 3-on-2 break, with Rhett Rachinski getting a partial breakaway and scored with a wrist shot high past Kootenay goaltender Nathan Lieuwen.

In the second period the Ice (36-25-9) tied the game with the clubs skating 4-on-4 as Joey Leach stepped into a slap hot from the blue-line that beat the partially screened goalie Tristan Jarry on the glove side.

The Ice took a 2-1 lead 1:35 later as Spencer Wand scored his first career goal with a slapshot through the Jarry's legs.

The Oil Kings tied the game 2:11 later as Michael St. Croix, the team leader in scoring, fired into a wide open net.

The Ice made it 3-2 at 15:31 of the second as Joe Antilla put a pass to top the crease and Brock Montgomery crashed the net and put the puck in. The goal was reviewed to see if the puck was kicked into the net.

Oil Kings tied the game just over a minute later when Cole Benson scored on a 2-on-1 break.

The Ice took a 4-3 lead in the third period on a short-handed 2-on-1 break with Jagger Dirk coming down the right wing and scoring with a wrist shot.

The Oil Kings tied the game 31 seconds later on the same power play with a rebound goal by Tritan Sieben.

At Brandon, Man., Eric Arnold scored in regulation and added the winner in the shootout as Moose Jaw (43-19-8) defeated the Wheat Kings (37-28-5).


Hurricanes 5 Hitmen 3

At Calgary, Jaimen Yakubowski had a goal and an assist to lead Lethbridge (28-41-1) over the Hitmen (42-25-3).


Pats 4 Raiders 1

At Regina, Jordan Weal scored twice to lead the Pats (37-25-6-2) over Prince Albert (21-43-3-3).


Royals 4 Winterhawks 3

At Victoria, Zane Jones had a goal and an assist for the Royals (23-42-7) as they beat Portland (48-18-4).


Rockets 4 Silvertips 2

At Kelowna, B.C., Jordon Cooke made 28 saves while Brett Bulmer and Shane McColgan each had two-point efforts with a goal and assist as the Rockets (30-31-9) beat Everett (21-39-2-8).


Chiefs 6 Blazers 4

At Spokane, Wash., Brenden Kichton had two goals and an assist as Spokane (37-24-9) beat the Blazers (46-19-5).
