WHL Roundup: A look at Wednesday's games @NHLdotcom

The Tri-City Americans have dominated the U.S. Division of the Western Hockey League all season, but they now have some company at the top.

Sven Bartschi scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Portland Winterhawks to a 5-3 win over the Americans on Wednesday, pulling Portland into a first place tie atop the division with 16 games remaining. The Winterhawks clinched a playoff spot with the win.

The Winterhawks have won three straight over the Americans after dropping the first five meetings between the teams this season.

Portland (38-15-3) peppered Tri-City goaltender Ty Rimmer with 25 shots in the first period, getting goals from Bartschi and Oliver Gabriel in the first 10 minutes to build a 2-0 advantage.

The Americans (38-15-3) rallied on a short-handed goal by Brendan Shinnimin and a Jordan Messier power-play marker to tie the game 2-2 through one period, despite getting just seven shots on Portland's Mac Carruth.
