JC Lipon scored twice, including the winner in the fifth round of the shootout, as the Kamloops Blazers edged the visiting Prince George Cougars 5-4 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
The 19-year-old forward now has 21 goals and 50 points in 25 games, which leads the WHL in both statistical categories
Cole Ully also had two goals for the Blazers (19-5-1) and Colin Smith chipped in with two assists.
Smith now has 49 points in 25 games, which gives Kamloops the top two scorers in the league.
Ryan Hanes, Chase Witala, Jari Erricson and Colin Jacobs scored for the Cougars (7-11-4), who have dropped seven games in a row including three losses in shootouts.
Cole Cheveldave stopped 27 shots for the win as Mac Engel turned away 32 shots in a losing cause.
Kamloops went 1 for 5 on the power play while Prince George went 2 for 7.

At Kamloops, B.C., after a scoreless first period, Erricson and Jacobs scored eight minutes apart in the second period to give Prince George a 2-0 lead.
Lipon responded for the Blazers at 12:51 and Ully scored four minutes later to make it 2-2 after 40 minutes of play.
Ully gave Kamloops its first lead of the game early in the third period, however Witala scored for the Cougars at 11:03.
Hanes made it 4-3 for Prince George, but Lipon forced overtime at 15:25.
