WHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

The Regina Pats took what looked like an inevitable loss and turned it into a stunning victory.

Chandler Stephenson had a hat trick and added an assist as Regina scored six third-period goals to steal a 6-4 victory from the Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey league action Saturday night.

Lane Scheidl had a goal and two assists, Dyson Stevenson and Luke Fenske scored a goal each and Jordan Weal added four assists for the Pats (34-24-7).

Brandon (35-27-4) had a goal and an assist from Mike Ferland, Brenden Walker and Darian Dziurzynski. Alessio Bertaggia also had a goal while captain Mark Stone chipped in with two assists.

Elsewhere in the WHL it was: Portland 7, Seattle 3; Moose Jaw 6, Lethbridge 2; Edmonton 2, Swift Current 1; Kootenay 2, Calgary 1; Red Deer 4, Saskatoon 1; Prince George 4, Spokane 3 (OT); Everett 4, Tri-City 1; Kelowna 4, Kamloops 3 (OT); and Victoria 5, Vancouver 2.

At Regina, the Wheat Kings appeared to have the game in the bag when Dziurzynski scored a minute into the third to make it 4-0 and chase Pats goalie Matt Hewitt out of the game.

Instead, Regina stunned Brandon with a five-goal frenzy in a seven-minute span.

By the midway point of the period the Pats were up 5-4.

Stephenson then capped off his night with a shot into an empty net for the hat trick.

Adam Beukeboom replaced Hewitt in Regina's net and made seven saves. Corbin Boes meanwhile stopped 35 shots for the Wheat Kings.

Winterhawks 7 Thunderbirds 3

At Portland, Sven Bartschi scored four goals, including two short handed, as the Winterhawks (46-15-4) beat Seattle (21-41-2) to remain atop the league.


Warriors 6 Hurricanes 2

At Moose Jaw, Sask., Joel Edmundson scored twice to help the Warriors (41-17-7) cruise past Lethbridge (26-37-1).


Oil Kings 2 Broncos 1

At Edmonton, Kristians Pelss scored with less than three minutes left to lift the Oil Kings (43-15-7) over Swift Current (24-35-8).


Ice 2 Hitmen 1

At Cranbrook, B.C., Brock Montgomery scored the go-ahead goal and Kootenay (35-23-8) went on to beat Calgary (39-24-3).


Rebels 4 Blades 1

At Red Deer, Alta., captain Adam Kambeitz scored once and added an assist to help the Rebels (30-29-6) earn a win over Saskatoon (36-26-3).


Cougars 4 Chiefs 3 (OT)

At Prince George, B.C., Cody Carlson scored 18 seconds into overtime to give the Cougars (20-43-2) a win against Spokane (35-22-8).


Silvertips 4 Americans 1

At Everett, Wash., the Silvertips (19-37-9) scored three goals in the second period to hammer Tri-City (45-17-3).


Rockets 4 Blazers 3 (OT)

At Kamloops, B.C., Zach Franko's overtime goal helped Kelowna (28-29-9) hold off the Blazers (44-17-5).


Royals 5 Giants 2

At Victoria, Jordan Fransoo had a goal and an assist in the Royals' (21-38-6) win over Vancouver (36-25-4).
