WHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

Emerson Etem is becoming known by his teammates for scoring when it matters most.

Etem scored the tying goal in the third period and added the winner in overtime as the Medicine Hat Tigers defeated the host Red Deer Rebels 3-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

His game-winner now gives him six on the season, which is the most scored by any player in the WHL.

Dylan Bredo also scored for Medicine Hat (24-14-4).

Adam Kambeitz and Justin Weller scored for Red Deer (17-19-3), both coming shorthanded.

Tyler Bunz stopped 32 shots for the win while Deven Dubyk made 34 saves in defeat.

Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Brandon 11, Prince Albert 3; Saskatoon 4, Regina 3; Edmonton 5, Swift Current 3; Moose Jaw 3, Kootenay 2; Kamloops 6, Prince George 1; Vancouver 8, Portland 4; Tri-City 4, Everett 0; Spokane 4, Seattle 2; and Kelowna 4, Victoria 3 (SO).

At Red Deer, Alta., Kambeitz scored a short-handed goal 2:25 into the game to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead but Bredo scored 38 seconds later to tie the game.

Red Deer regained their lead in the second period when Weller added a second short-handed goal at 6:47.

Etem tied the game at 16:47 of the third period, then scored the winner 2:16 into overtime.


Wheat Kings 11, Raiders 3

At Prince Albert, Sask., Michael Ferland, Jens Meilleur and Darian Dziurzynski scored two goals each as Brandon (22-17-2) snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Raiders (15-25-3).


Blades 4, Pats 3

At Saskatoon, Jake Trask scored once and set up three more as the Blades (23-17-1) edged Regina (23-16-4).


Oil Kings 5, Broncos 3

At Edmonton, Kristians Pelss had a goal and two assists to lead the Oil Kings (27-10-4) over Swift Current (16-21-5).


Warriors 3, Ice 2

At Cranbrook, B.C., Tanner Eberle scored twice and assisted on one more as Moose Jaw (25-12-5) snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Ice (23-13-4).


Blazers 6, Cougars 1

At Prince George, B.C., Bronson Maschmeyer and Brendan Ranford had two goals apiece as Kamloops (28-10-3) crushed the Cougars (13-25-2).


Giants 8, Winterhawks 4

At Vancouver, Brendan Gallagher scored a hat-trick and picked up four assists as the Giants (25-14-2) snapped Portland's (26-12-3) six-game winning streak.


Americans 4, Silvertips 0

At Everett, Wash., Ty Rimmer stopped all 22 shots he faced as Tri-City (32-7-0) picked up their 13th straight win by defeating the Silvertips (7-24-8).


Chiefs 4, Thunderbirds 2

At Kent, Wash., Mitch Holmberg scored twice as Spokane (19-13-5) handed Seattle (16-21-1) their fourth straight defeat.


Rockets 4, Royals 3 (SO)

At Victoria, Zach Franko scored the winner in a shootout as Kelowna (17-19-5) won its third straight game by defeating the Royals (13-24-5).
