WHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games @NHLdotcom

The Portland Winterhawks made the most of a two-game trip to Kelowna.

Derek Pouliot scored twice as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Kelowna Rockets 3-1 Saturday in Western Hockey League action.

Ty Rattie rounded out the Winterhawks (11-7-2) scoring with a goal and an assist.

Jessey Astles scored the lone goal for the Rockets (5-10-2).

Mac Carruth stopped 30 shots for the win as Adam Brown made 31 saves in defeat.

Portland went 1-for-4 on the power play while Kelowna failed to score on three opportunities with the man advantage.

Portland also beat Kelowna Friday night 6-5.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Medicine Hat 4, Brandon 3 (OT); Edmonton 4, Seattle 1; Red Deer 4, Kootenay 3; Calgary 3, Regina 2; Swift Current 3, Prince Albert 2; Saskatoon 7, Lethbridge 3; Prince George 3, Kamloops 1; Tri-City 4, Spokane 1 and Vancouver 5, Victoria 3.

In Kelowna, B.C., Rattie scored his 15th goal of the season 38 seconds into the game to give Portland a 1-0 lead.

At 3:12 of the first period, Astles scored his first of the season to tie the game at one heading into the first intermission.

Pouliot scored his first goal of the evening at 19:46 of the second period, on the power play, to give the Winterhawks a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.

Pouliot scored his fifth of the season, and second of the game, at 5:12 of the third period securing a 3-1 Portland victory.


Tigers 4 Wheat Kings 3 (OT)

At Brandon, Man., Hunter Shinkaruk scored three times for his second hat trick in as many games as Medicine Hat (13-5-0) defeated Brandon (11-5-2).


Oil Kings 4 Thunderbirds 1

At Edmonton, Mark Pysyk had a goal and an assist as the Oil Kings (10-5-2) beat Seattle (5-9-0).


Rebels 4 Ice 3 (OT)

At Cranbrook, B.C., John Persson and Turner Elson both had two goals as Red Deer (11-4-1) beat Kootenay (12-3-3).


Hitmen 3 Pats 2

At Regina, Victor Rask scored two goals as Calgary (7-8-1) beat the Pats (11-7-0).


Broncos 3 Raiders 2

At Swift Current, Sask., the Broncos (7-9-2) scored three unanswered goals in the second period to secure a win over Prince Albert (5-14-2).


Blades 7 Hurricanes 3

At Saskatoon, Michael Burns had two goals and an assist as the Blades (11-6-1) beat Lethbridge (3-15-1).


Cougars 3 Blazers 1

At Prince George, B.C., Troy Bourke and Alex Forsberg both had goal and an assist to lead the Cougars (5-12-1) over Kamloops (12-5-0).


Americans 4 Chiefs 1

At Spokane, Wash., Ty Rimmer made 23 saves, picking up his eight win of the season, as Tri-City (12-5-0) beat the Chiefs (8-4-1).


Giants 5 Royals 3

At Victoria, Brendan Gallagher had two goals and an assist as Vancouver (10-8-1) defeated the Royals (10-8-1).
