WHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games @NHLdotcom

The Toyota Center has become a house of horrors for the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Adam Hughesman and Patrick Holland both had two goals as the Tri-City Americans defeated the Thunderbirds 7-3 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

?I think I finally played a good game in the second half,? said Hughesman, who hadn?t scored a goal in four games. ?It was nice to get the bounces.?

Seattle hasn?t won at Toyota Center since Jan. 27, 2008, a span of 19 games.

Jordan Messier, Brendan Shinnimin and Mason Wilgosh also scored for Tri-City (31-7-0), which has won 12 straight games and sits first in the WHL standings.

Colin Jacobs, Tyler Alos and Shea Theodore responded for the Thunderbirds (16-20-1).

Eric Comrie stopped 20 shots for the win while Daniel Cotton finished with 38 saves in a losing effort.

Both clubs were equal on the power play, going 2 for 4.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Prince Albert 4, Brandon 1; Regina 3, Saskatoon 0; Lethbridge 3, Medicine Hat 1; Swift Current 3, Red Deer 2; Portland 3, Everett 1; Kamloops 2, Prince George 0; Spokane 5 Moose Jaw 2 and Kelowna 5, Victoria 2.

At Kennewick, Wash., Messier and Hughesman both scored in the first period to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

The Americans then opened up the second period with three straight goals, all within a span of 1:36, extending their lead to five.

Hughesman added his second of the game on the power play, then Wilgosh scored another power-play goal and finally Holland scored.

Jacobs responded by scoring on a penalty shot and Alos added a power-play goal late in the period to make it 5-2 Americans heading into the third.

Holland scored his second of the game early in the third and Shinnimin added his team's seventh goal late.

Theodore scored on the power play for Seattle with just 17 seconds remaining in the game.

At Prince Albert, Sask., Justin Maylan scored once and set up two more as the Raiders (15-24-3) handed Brandon (21-17-2) its third straight loss.


Pats 3 Blades 0

At Regina, Matt Hewitt made 33 stops and Jordan Weal scored a goal and an assist as the Pats (23-15-4) shut out Saskatoon (22-17-1).


Hurricanes 3 Tigers 1

At Lethbridge, Alta., Damien Ketlo made 31 saves and Daniel Johnston's second-period goal stood as the winner as the Hurricanes (15-26-1) defeated Medicine Hat (23-13-4).


Broncos 3 Rebels 2

At Red Deer, Alta., Taylor Vause scored the eventual winner and assisted on two other goals as Swift Current (16-20-5) beat the Rebels (17-18-3).


Winterhawks 3 Silvertips 1

At Portland, Ore., the Winterhawks (26-11-3) Brad Ross moved up to fourth in league scoring with 28 goals after three against the Silvertips (7-23-8).


Blazers 2 Cougars 0

At Prince George, B.C., Kamloops' (27-10-3) Cole Cheveldave made 32 saves to pick up his second straight shutout against the Cougars (13-24-2).


Chiefs 5 Warriors 2

At Spokane, Wash., Mitch Holmberg and Corbin Baldwin both had a goal and an assist as the Chiefs (18-13-5) defeated Moose Jaw (24-12-5).


Rockets 5 Royals 2

At Victoria, Myles Bell scored twice and set up one more as Kelowna (16-19-5) handed the Royals (13-24-4) their eighth straight loss.
