WHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games @NHL

The Kamloops Blazers picked up their fifth win in a row on Friday as they defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-4 in Western Hockey League action.

Tyler Bell, Tim Bozon, Chase Souto, Matt Needham and Brendan Ranford all scored for Kamloops (19-7-1).

Alex Forsberg, Jake Mykitiuk, Troy Bourke and Spencer Asuchak replied for Prince George (8-18-2).

Cam Lanigan stopped 25 shots for the win while Drew Owsley made 27 saves in defeat.

The Blazers went 2-for-4 on the power play; the Cougars went 1-for-3.

The five-game winning streak keeps the Blazers atop the B.C. Division, one point ahead of the Vancouver Giants.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Prince Albert 7, Kootenay 5; Vancouver 4, Regina 1; Brandon 4, Red Deer 2; Calgary 3 Spokane 2 (OT); Saskatoon 2, Medicine Hat 1 (OT); Portland 5, Everett 1; Victoria 2, Kelowna 1 and Tri-City 4, Seattle 2.

In Kamloops, B.C., Bozon opened the scoring at 12:54 of the first period, giving the Blazers a 1-0 lead.

Forsberg tied the game just two minutes later but Souto scored at 16:30 to give Kamloops a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Mykitiuk scored for Prince George just 2:06 into the second period, tying the game at two.

But the Blazers took the lead when Needham answered late in the period on the power play.

Asuchak opened the third period with a goal 32 seconds in to tie the game again, but Bell and Ranford scored to give Kamloops their first two-goal lead at 5-3.

Bourke scored on the power play at 15:20, but it wasn't enough as the Blazers held on for the victory.


Raiders 7 Ice 5

At Prince Albert, Sask., Mark McNeill scored three times and set up two others as the Raiders (7-21-2) defeated Kootenay (19-6-3).


Giants 4 Pats 1

At Regina, Brendan Gallagher had a goal and an assist, and Adam Morrison made 19 saves as Vancouver (18-10-2) beat the Pats (13-12-2).


Wheat Kings 4 Rebels 2

At Brandon, Man., Darian Dziurzynski had a hat trick and Ryan Pulock added a goal and two assists, leading the Wheat Kings (18-10-2) past Red Deer (14-10-3).


Hitmen 3 Chiefs 2 (OT)

At Calgary, Victor Rask scored twice, including the game-winning goal in overtime, to lead the Hitmen (15-11-2) over Spokane (12-8-4)


Blades 2 Tigers 1 (OT)

At Medicine Hat, Alta., Josh Nicholls scored both goals for Saskatoon (19-9-1) as they defeated the Tigers (16-10-4).


Winterhawks 5 Silvertips 1

At Portland, Ore., Oliver Gabriel scored once and added an assist in his season debut as the Winterhawks (18-9-2) downed Everett (5-18-4).


Royals 2 Rockets 1

At Kelowna, B.C., Robin Soudek scored both goals for Victoria (12-15-2) as they defeated the Rockets (11-13-3).


Americans 4 Thunderbirds 2

At Kent, Wash., Justin Feser scored twice while Patrick Holland, Adam Hughesman and Brendan Shinnimin each had a goal and an assist to lead Tri-City (20-7-0) past the Thunderbirds (11-13-1).
