WHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games in the Western Hockey League @NHL

Codie Fowlie scored the shootout winner and Kent Simpson made 52 saves to lift the Everett Silvertips over the Red Deer Rebels 3-2 Friday night in Western Hockey League action.

Kohl Bauml and Josh Winquist each each scored in regulation for Everett while John Persson and Josh Cowen scored for Red Deer.

Bolton Pouliot made 26 saves for the loss.

Elsewhere in the WHL, it was: Moose Jaw 8, Brandon 4; Portland 4, Lethbridge 1; Regina 4, Edmonton 1; Swift Current 3, Medicine Hat 2; Kamloops 5, Kelowna 2; Vancouver 4, Prince George 2 and Seattle 4, Victoria 3 (SO).

In Red Deer, Alta., Persson opened the scoring two minutes into the second period, with his fourth goal of the season to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead.

Cowen doubled the lead to 2-0 at 9:52 and it stayed that way until the third period.

A little over five minutes into the third, Bauml finally got the Silvertips on the board with his second of the season.

A power-play goal from Winquist midway through the period tied the game at two and forced overtime.


Warriors 8, Wheat Kings 4

At Brandon, Man., Cody Beach and Justin Kirsch each had two goals as Moose Jaw (8-5-1) doubled up on the Wheat Kings (8-5-1).


Winterhawks 4, Hurricanes 1

At Lethbridge, Alta., Mac Carruth turned away 30 shots to lead Portland (8-6-2) over the Hurricanes (2-12-1).


Pats 4, Oil Kings 1

At Regina. Sask., Matt Hewitt made 39 saves and the power play scored twice as the Pats (10-5-0) beat Edmonton (9-4-2).


Broncos 3, Tigers 2

At Swift Current, Sask., Adam Lowry had three assists as the Broncos (6-7-2) beat Medicine Hat (10-5-0).


Blazers 5, Rockets 2

At Kamloops, B.C., Dylan Willick led the way with two goals as the Blazers (10-3-0) beat Kelowna (5-8-1).


Giants 4, Cougars 2

At Prince George, B.C., Jordan Martinook scored a hat-trick, including one on the power play, lifting Vancouver (8-6-1) over the Cougars (3-11-1).


Thunderbirds 4, Royals 3 (SO)

At Victoria, B.C., Brad Deagle had a goal and an assist and Luke Lockhart scored in the shootout as Seattle (5-5-0) squeezed past the Royals (8-7-1).
