Whalers score three quick goals in third period to beat Spirit 6-2 @NHL

SAGINAW, Mich. - The Plymouth Whalers broke open a close game with three third-period goals in just six minutes to power their way to a 6-2 win over the Saginaw Spirit in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday.

Chris Terry and Tyler Seguin had a goal and an two assists while T. J. Jenks, Michal Jordan and Matt Caria had a goal and an assist for the Whalers (32-23-5-0), who won for the seventh straight time over their local rivals and pulled to within one point of the third place Spirit (32-22-2-4) in the Western Conference.

Vern Cooper added the other goal for Plymouth.

T. J. Brodie and Jordan Skellett replied for Saginaw.

Matt Hackett stopped 24 of 26 shots for Plymouth, who out shot Saginaw 38-26.

Edward Pasquale made 32 saves for the Spirit.
