Wellwood out for eight weeks after undergoing hernia surgery @NHL

TORONTO (CP) - Forward Kyle Wellwood underwent successful hernia surgery and is expected to be out of the Toronto Maple Leafs' lineup for eight weeks, the NHL team announced Tuesday.

Wellwood, 23, hasn't played since Dec. 19 with what was originally diagnosed as a groin injury. The five-foot-10, 180-pound forward has registered nine goals and 22 assists in 35 games this season.
