Wells gets first career hat trick as Thunderbirds beat Cougars 4-2 @NHLdotcom

KENT, Wash. - Charles Wells scored his first three goals of the season to help the Seattle Thunderbirds snap a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Wells, a centre from Edmonton, scored his first goal at 11:36 of the first period. He scored a power-play goal at 6:32 of the second period and capped his first WHL hat trick with an empty-netter with 10 seconds remaining in the game.

Prab Rai also scored for Seattle (3-7-1).

Tyler Halliday and Del Cowan both scored for Prince George (2-9-0).

Seattle outshot Prince George 40-20 in the game with Calvin Pickard stopping 18 shots to pick up the win for the Thunderbirds. Cougars netminder James Priestner made 36 saves.
