PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Recent call-up Shawn Weller scored twice, including the game-winner as the Abbotsford Heat defeated the Providence Bruins 5-2 Sunday afternoon in the American Hockey League.

Riley Armstrong stretched the lead to two less than a minute later, while Mikael Backlund opened the scoring for Abbotsford (28-24-8), which has won two straight and seven of its last 10. Brett Sutter had two assists and added an empty-netter.

Trent Whitfield and Jeff Penner scored for the Bruins (28-27-3).

David Shantz made 41 saves for the Heat, while Providence netminder Dany Sabourin stopped 31 shots.
