Weight to coach Islanders in Buffalo @NHL
Assistant coach Doug Weight will run the New York Islanders' bench in Buffalo on Tuesday night against the Sabres in place of flu-ridden coach Jack Capuano.

The Isles announced the move about two hours before game time at First Niagara Center.

Capuano is the latest casualty of a flu bug that has been going through the team. It began when goaltender Evgeni Nabokov and defenseman Steve Staios had to sit out Thursday's game in St. Louis; Nabokov has also missed games against Carolina and Ottawa and will not dress against the Sabres. Forward Kyle Okposo has also been battling an illness but was able to play Monday.

Weight, who also serves as a senior adviser to GM Garth Snow, retired as a player last spring after playing his final three seasons with the Islanders.

The Islanders enter the game six points out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference -- but just one point ahead of the 14th-place Sabres.
