Wednesday's QMJHL roundup @NHLdotcom

Jonathan Huberdeau's ninth goal of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs stood as the winner as the Saint John Sea Dogs completed a four-game sweep of the Gatineau Olympiques with a 4-2 win Wednesday.

Tomas Jurco, Yann Sauve and Michael Kirkpatrick, into an empty net, also scored for the Sea Dogs, who finished with the best record in the QMJHL regular season.

Saint John will play the winner of the series between Drummondville and Rimouski in the semifinals. Drummondville took a 3-1 lead in that series with a 7-2 win over the Oceanic.

The Victoriaville Tigres also completed a sweep Wednesday, knocking out the Quebec Remparts with a 4-2 win.

At Gatineau,Que., Philippe Halley, on a penalty shot, and Tye McGinn replied for the Olympiques, who opened a 2-0 lead before Saint John stormed back.

Marco Cousineau made 20 saves for the Sea Dogs. Maxime Clermont stopped 31 shots for the Olympiques.

Tigres 4 Remparts 2

At Victoriaville, Que., Keven Dupont scored the winner and Joel Champagne added three assists as the Tigres eliminated Quebec.

Philippe Maillet, Joel Chouinard and Travis McIsaac also scored for Victoriaville.

Olivier Hinse and Dominic Savoie replied for Quebec.

The Tigres will face the winner of the series between Moncton and Rouyn-Noranda in the semifinals. Moncton leads that series 3-0.


Voltigeurs 7 Oceanic 2

At Rimouski, Que., Sean Couturier had two goals and two assists as Drummondville took a 3-1 series lead over Rimouski.

Christopher DiDomenico, Benoit Levesque, Gabriel Dumont, Charles Landry and Marc-Olivier Vachon also scored for the Voltigeurs, who broke open a close game with five third-period goals.

Alex Belzile and Jakub Culek replied for the Oceanic.

Game 5 is Friday in Drummondville.
