Maxime Legault scored two straight goals to send the game to overtime and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles beat the Saint John Sea Dogs 4-3 in a shootout in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Wednesday.
Mike Hoffman, Tomas Jurco and Jonathan Huberdeau all beat Sea Dogs goaltender Karel St-Laurent in the shootout. St-Laurent had been solid before that, stopping 35 shots in regulation and overtime, including a third-period penalty shot by Legault.
Luke Adam also scored for Cape Breton (39-22-5).
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Drummondville 7 Lewiston 6; Baie-Comeau 3 Chicoutimi 1; and Gatineau 4 Rimouski 1.
At Sydney, N.S., Mike Hoffman, Michael Kirkpatrick and Nathan Beaulieu scored in regulation for the Sea Dogs (52-11-3), who have already clinched first place overall in the QMJHL.
Olivier Roy made 26 saves in regulation and overtime for the Screaming Eagles. He stopped just one of three chances in the shootout, but that was just enough to give Cape Breton the win.
Voltigeurs 7 Maineiacs 6
At Lewiston,Maine, Christopher DiDomenico and Gabriel Dumont each had a goal and two assists as Drummondville beat the Voltigeurs.
Charles Landry, Ondrej Palat, Alexandre Comtois, Marc-Antoine Desnoyers and Sean Couturier also scored for Drummondville (49-15-2).
Etienne Brodeur had three goals for Lewiston (23-40-3). Ian Saab, Matthew Bissonnette and Cameron Critchlow also scored.
Drakkar 3 Sagueneens 1
At Baie-Comeau,Que., Antoine Laperriere scored the winning goal as the Drakkar defeated Chicoutimi.
Jean-Marc Leger and David Cliche also scored for Baie-Comeau (20-39-7).
Rock Regimbald replied for the Sagueneens (25-32-9).
Olympics 4 Oceanic 1
At Rimouski, Que., Tye McGinn scored twice to lead Gatineau over the Oceanic.
Jean-Gabriel and Alexander Beaton also scored for the Olympiques (29-32-5).
Petr Straka had the only goal for Rimouski (34-25-7).
