Wednesday's QMJHL roundup @NHLdotcom

Jean-Francois Berube showed Wednesday why the Montreal Junior felt they could afford to trade their No. 1 goalie.

The netminder made 34 saves in a Montreal's 4-1 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in Quebec Major Junior Hockey league play.

Earlier in the day, the Junior traded Canadian world junior goalie Jake Allen to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in exchange for first-round draft picks in 2010 and 2011.

Allem, the 19-year-old St. Louis Blues prospect, was 11-11-0 with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in 23 starts for Montreal this season.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Moncton 5 Saint John 3; Shawinigan 4 Baie-Comeau 2; Victoriaville 7 Acadie-Bathurst 3; and Rimouski 5 Chicoutimi 1.

At Sydney, N.S., Trevor Parkes, Nicolas Chouinard, David Stich and Jeremy Gouchie scored for Montreal (19-18-3). Chouinard also picked up two assists.

Brad Cuzner had the only goal for Cape Breton (24-14-5).

Montreal led 2-0 before the game was ten minutes old thanks to goals from Parkes and Chouinard.

Cuzner got Cape Breton back to within one with just under seven minutes to go in the first, but Stich scored on the power play 32 seconds into the second to make it 3-1. Gouchie made it 4-1 at 9:25 of the period.

Olivier Roy made 31 saves for the Screaming Eagles in taking the loss.

Wildcats 5 Sea Dogs 3

At Saint John, N.B., Daniel Pettersson had a goal and two assists to lead Moncton over the Sea Dogs.

Marek Hrivik, Tyler Howe, Devon MacAusland and Scott Brannon also scored for the Wildcats (26-11-4).

Michael Kirkpatrick, Tomas Jurco and Mike Hoffman replied for Saint John (34-7-1).


Cataractes 4 Drakkar 2

At Shawinigan, Que., Dave Labrecque had two goal and two assists for the Cataractes in their win over Baie-Comeau.

Philippe Paradis and Michael Bournival also scored for Shawinigan (19-17-5).

Guillaume Langelier-Parent and Maxime Renaud replied for Baie-Comeau (13-24-3).


Tigres 7 Titan 3

At Victoriaville, Que., Philip-Michael Devos scored four times and added an assist as the Tigres downed Acadie-Bathurst.

Yannick Dube, Tomas Kubalik and Andrej Nestrasil also had goals for Victoriaville (27-13-2).

Luke Dillman, Jonathan Lessard and David Gilbert replied for the Titan (15-21-5).


Oceanic 5 Sagueneens 1

At Rimouski, Que., Patrick Delisle-Houde scored twice and Alex Emond added three assists for the Oceanic in their victory over Chicoutimi.

Emmanuel Boudreau, Ryan Kavanagh and Petr Straka also scored for the Oceanic (22-13-6).

Mathieu Populus had the only goal for the Sagueneens (15-17-8).
