The streaking Victoriaville Tigres finally ran into a hot goaltender Wednesday night.
Anaheim Ducks prospect Marco Cousineau turned aside 40 shots as the P.E.I. Rocket downed Victoriaville 4-1, ending the Tigres' nine-game winning streak.
Cousineau, a third-round pick of the Ducks in 2008, allowed only Yanni Gourde's power-play goal 3:02 into the game as the Rocket (14-9-3) cruised despite being outshot 41-19 overall.
The Tigres (19-8-1) had been a force of late, scoring 44 goals during their winning streak - kicked off with an 11-2 thumping of Rouyn-Noranda. But they had no answers for Cousineau, who won for just the third time in his last eight games.
In Wednesday's other QMJHL game, it was Shawinigan 9 Lewiston 4.
At Victoriaville, Que., Jarrad Struthers led the way offensively with a pair of goals for P.E.I. Chris Doyle had a goal and an assist, and Benjamin Casavant also scored in the victory.
Kevin Poulin made 15 saves in defeat for Victoriaville, which finished with its lowest goal total since a 5-0 loss Rimouski on Oct. 18.
Cataractes 9 Maineiacs 4
At Shawinigan, Que., defenceman Michael Claffey led a balanced attack with two goals and an assist as the Cataractes trounced Lewiston.
Philippe Paradis had a goal and three assists, Charles-Olivier Roussel added a goal and two helpers and Jean-Laurence Beauchemin, Dave Lebrecque, Antoine Houde-Caron, Raphael Pouliot and Pierre-Alexandre Vandall also scored for Shawinigan (13-10-3).
Etienne Brodeur, Mathieu Gingras, Michael Chaput and Sebastien Trudeau countered for the Maineiacs (10-14-1).
