SAINT JOHN, N.B. - The normally potent Saint John Sea Dogs found out what it's like to be on the other side of an offensive pasting.
Benjamin Casavant scored twice and added an assist as the P.E.I. Rocket hammered the Sea Dogs 6-1 in Wednesday's lone Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game.
Chris Doyle added a goal and two assists for the Rocket (3-0-2), while Josh Currie, Jarrad Struthers and Jordan Escott also scored.
Tomas Jurco replied for the Sea Dogs.
Saint John (4-1-0) opened the season by scoring 19 goals over its first four games, including a 6-1 victory over Halifax on Saturday. But on Wednesday they only managed to beat Rocket goaltender Marco Cousineau once on 24 shots.
The Rocket got off to a quick start, with Currie scoring 1:24 into the game. P.E.I. had four goals on 13 shots in the first period, ensuring that starting Sea Dogs goalie Karel St-Laurent did not return after the first intermission.
Marc-Antoine Gelinas allowed two goals on 16 shots in 40 minutes of relief.
