Wednesday's QMJHL Roundup @NHL

Joey Haddad scored two goals and added an assist and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles fended off a furious Chicoutimi comback attempt, beating the Sagueneens 5-4 Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Cape Breton led 5-1 after 40 minutes, but let the Sagueneens back into it by allowing three third-period goals. Still, the Screaming Eagles (38-15-1-1) hung on and moved within a point of Moncton for the Atlantic Division lead.

In the only other QMJHL game Wednesday, Val-d'Or beat Lewiston 4-1.

At Sydney, N.S., Robert Slaney, Nicolas Chouinard and Brad Tesink also scored for Cape Breton.

Antoine Roussel scored two goals, while Jacob Lagace, Drew Paris also counted for Chicoutimi (17-24-4-6).

Christopher Holden made 33 saves for Cape Breton. Francois Levesque and John Nauta combined for 39 stops for Chicoutimi.

Foreurs 4 Maineiacs 1

At Val-d'Or, Que., Keven Guerette-Charland scored twice to lead the Foreurs over Lewiston.

Matthew Lachaine and Derek Famulare also scored for Val-d'Or (15-31-3-4).

Eric Gelinas replied for Lewiston (18-35-0-1).
