Wednesday's OHL Roundup @NHL

Tyler Seguin scored a power-play goal at 3:57 of overtime to give the Plymouth Whalers a 4-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday.

The Whalers, who posted their fifth straight win over their state rivals, overcame a 3-1 deficit on goals from Ryan Hayes and Chris Terry to set up the winner from Seguin. Terry scored twice for Plymouth (26-22-5-0), while Matt Hackett had 24 saves.

Jack Combs had a goal and two assists and Chris Chappell had a goal and an assist for Saginaw (30-18-0-4).

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Sault Ste. Marie 6 Sudbury 4; Erie 3 Niagara 2 (SO); and Belleville 3 Brampton 1.

At Saginaw, Mich., Nick Crawford rounded out the scoring for the Spirit. Edward Pasquale made 31 saves.

The two teams combined for five power play goals, three for the Whalers and two for the Spirit.

Greyhounds 6 Wolves 4

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., James Livingston, Jordan Nolan and Michael Fine each had a goal and an assist as the Greyhounds beat Sudbury.

Brett Thompson, Jordan Carroll and Jake Carrick also scored for the Greyhounds (16-34-2-2).

Matt Dias had a goal and two assists for Sudbury (22-26-2-4), while Akim Aliu, Eric O'Dell and Jared Staal also scored.


Otters 3 IceDogs 2 (SO)

At Erie, Pa., rookie forward Greg McKegg scored in the fifth round of the shootout and goaltender Jaroslav Janus made the final save to seal the Otters' 3-2 win Niagara.

Tyler Hostetter and Brandon Biggers scored in regulation for Erie (28-24-2-0).

Mathew Sisca ands Alex Pietrangelo replied for the IceDogs (22-23-4-6).


Bulls 3 Battalion 1

At Belleville, Ont., Mike Murphy made 39 saves as the Bulls beat Brampton in a battle of Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference division leaders.

Nick Palmieri, Luke Judson and Matthew Tipoff scored for East Division-leading Belleville (36-15-2-2).

Evgeny Grachev replied for Central Division-leading Brampton (36-15-1-1), while Thomas McCollum made 28 saves.
