Wednesday's news roundup: Latendresse on IR @NHLdotcom
Minnesota placed forward Guillaume Latendresse on the injured reserve list Wednesday with a lower-body injury and recalled left wing Matt Kassian from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League.

Latendresse has been hampered by a groin problem for much of the season, but has 3 goals and 6 points in eight games. He had 25 goals in 55 games with the Wild after being acquired from Montreal last season.

Kassian, a second-round pick by the Wild in the 2005 Entry Draft, has 1 assist and 28 penalty minutes with Houston this season. The 24-year-old led the Aeros with 149 PIM in 59 games last season while scoring 2 goals and finishing with 6 points.

Dupuis to miss Pens' game in Dallas -- Pittsburgh will be without forward Pascal Dupuis for Wednesday night's game in Dallas, but not because of injury. Dupuis and his wife, Carole-Lynn, welcomed a baby daughter earlier in the day.

"Pascal left early this morning and made it home eight minutes before his baby daughter was born," coach Dan Bylsma told the Penguins website.

Added captain Sidney Crosby: "Obviously he has more important things to worry about. It’s pretty special and we are all happy for him. I’m sure he won’t be out too long and we’ll all have to play well in his absence."

Oilers loan Jacques to Oklahoma City
-- Edmonton has assigned forward J.F. Jacques on a conditioning loan to its Oklahoma City affiliate in the AHL.

Jacques, 25, played in 49 games last season with the Oilers, scoring 4 goals and finishing with 11 points, along with 78 PIM. The Montreal native hasn't played at al this season after recovering from a back injury.

Kings send Muzzin to minors
-- The Los Angeles Kings assigned 21-year-old defenseman Jake Muzzin to the AHL Manchester Monarchs on Wednesday to make room for the return of Drew Doughty.

Muzzin has 1 assist in eight games with the Kings this season, his first in the NHL, and has been credited with 17 hits. The 6-3, 213-pound native of Woodstock, Ontario, was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on Jan. 4, 2010.

Doughty has been idled with a concussion but is expected to return Thursday night when the Kings host Tampa Bay.
