ERIE, Pa. - Yannick Weber, Nick Spaling and Matt Halischuk combined for five goals and 10 points to lead the Rangers past the reeling Otters 7-0 in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday night.
Spaling led the Rangers (9-2-0-0) with a goal and three assists. Spaling has 13 goals, two behind Oshawa's John Tavares for the OHL lead.
Weber and Halischuk had two goals and an assist apiece.
The Otters' second shutout loss pushed their losing streak to a season-high seven straight games. Erie (3-10-0-0) has been outscored 46-11 during the drought.
The Rangers scored seven times on 29 shots against rookie goaltender Jaroslav Janus. They also scored three times on nine power-play chances.
The Otters failed to score on 24 shots against rookie goaltender Josh Unice, who recorded his second shutout of the season. Unice allowed four goals in each of his previous four outings.
Three players - the Otters' Zack Torquato and Ronny Rogers and Kitchener's Mike Mascioli - all received fight-related game misconducts. All three will serve automatic two-game suspensions.
