Yannick Weber may have some competition residing at the Nashville Humane Association.
When his girlfriend, Kayla Price, stopped by to make a much-needed donation to the facility, she quickly learned the shelter had fittingly named one of their new puppies Yannick Weber. Already an owner of two dogs herself, Price's heart melted as she met the new Yannick.
So, the question had to be asked - would she be filling out adoption papers before heading home?
"Potentially," Price laughed. "But don't tell the real one."

Regardless, Weber and Price knew they had to do something when they heard of the NHA recently rescuing 42 puppies from heat-stricken conditions. Animal-lovers themselves, the couple pitched in to donate food, towels and dog pools, one of them packed to the brim with toys for the furry companions.
"The Nashville Humane Association is doing such wonderful work in this space, and we invite the community to join us in making an impact," Weber said. "We believe that animals deserve a good life, and we want to be the voice for them and get them the help that they need."
Committed to controlling the pet population, finding forever homes and promoting the humane treatment of animals, the Nashville Humane Association has dogs and cats up for fostering or adoption. The association is also completely donation funded, with monetary and material contributions always welcome.
That's what makes Weber and Price's gesture so crucial for a shelter like this that relies on the generosity of others to survive.

"We are so thankful because we can't do our jobs without the support from the Predators," NHA Executive Director Laura Chavarria said. "It's super cool to see people that are celebrities in our town, who come from a humble beginning, to be able to give back to our community. It really means a lot to all of us."
A handful of the 42 puppies who recently arrived were named after players, including Craig, Filip, Pekka, Kyle, and of course, Yannick. If you're interested in adopting, fostering or donating to help the Preds pups - or any of the other animals who call NHA home, for now - visit

Time is of the essence, however - Yannick may not be available much longer.
"We really love animals," Price said. "The dogs don't really have a choice in the lives that they have and the situations that they were in, so any way that we can make their stay here a little bit more enjoyable or if we can find them their forever homes, it's a deed well done and we're happy to do it."
