Weber, Hornqvist supply the power for Predators 3-1 win over Blue Jackets @NHLdotcom

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Shea Weber and Patric Hornqvist each scored a power-play goal and assisted on another as the Nashville Predators beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 Saturday night.

Hornqvist scored the first goal of the game midway through the first period. He fired a shot from low in the left circle that beat Columbus goaltender Fredrik Norrena low to his glove side. Ryan Suter and Weber each earned an assist.

Neither team scored in the second period. The Predators did not manage a shot on goal. Columbus had 19 attempts.

The Predators wasted little time scoring in the third. At the 1:49 mark, Antti Pihlstrom scored his first goal of pre-season. Radek Bonk took a shot from the slot and Pihlstrom, stationed near the edge of the crease, redirected the puck past Norrena to his glove side.

Nashville extended the lead to 3-0 when Weber blasted a one-timer from just inside the blue line to beat Norrena to his stick side at 11:40. Suter and Hornqvist earned the assists.

Columbus broke the shutout at 14:17 of the third on a goal by Derek Dorsett.

Triston Grant and Josh Gratton both were given fighting majors. Jon Mirasty and Ole Kristian Tollefson were also given fighting majors for Columbus.
