REGINA - Jordan Weal scored twice to help the Regina Pats beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-2 in the Western Hockey League Friday night.
Carter Ashton and Tyler Parker also had goals for Regina (28-33-7).
Carter Bancks had a pair for Lethbridge (19-41-8).
Weal opened the scoring for Regina near the midway mark of the first when he tucked one under former Pat goalie Linden Rowat from in tight. Picking up assists on the play were Jordan Eberle and Hampus Gustafsson.
With just over two minutes left in the frame Lethbridge answered back with two, both from Bancks.
The first came on a power play when the Hurricane's captain worked his way out of the corner then turned and beat Regina goalie Dawson Guhle with a quick wrist shot from the top of the circle.
The other was an even-strength goal following a pretty feed from rookie Mitch Maxwell.
Regina got both goals back in the second while out-shooting the Hurricanes 17-5. Midway through Ashton banked a goal in off Rowat during a power play for his 24th of the year. Assisting was Garrett Mitchell and Gustafsson with his second helper of the night.
Weal then struck with his second of the night, the eventual winner, in the dying seconds of the period.
Regina's Tyler Parker added one more for the Pats in the third. The goal, Parker's first of the season, was set up by Andrew Rieder and Mitch Spooner.
Guhle needed just 20 saves for the win while Rowat turned away 27.
