Fans chanted for the popular forward, who sustained an upper-body injury in Game 4 and is out indefinitely. Oshie, however, did what he could to impact Game 5. He took to Twitter to thank fans, announce he was in good hands and then implore them to go wild all game long.
Thanks to everyone for the get well wishes. I’m in good hands with our training staff, doctors and especially mama bear at home with her 2 little helpers. DC I need you to make some noise tonight for my boys. I want to hear you through the TV. #ALLCAPS#Back2Back@Capitals
It worked. And the forward was pretty thrilled about it after the game.
Caps fans you guys are amazing!! Thanks for the chants tonight!! The boys played hard and were fun to watch. Looking forward to game 6. #ALLCAPS#BACK2BACK
But the chant wasn't the only Oshie tribute of the night. Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan pulled out Oshie's move, chugging a beverage through a jersey, earlier in the night. Oshie, of course, approved.
